Current On-Going Projects

The Presbyterian Hub

The Presbyterian Hub

The Hub Development Projected was approved at the Synod AGM 2013. The buzz surrounding this project continues to be on the rise and is progressing well. During the recent Synod AGM in March 2014, the vibrant Q & A from the floor was a sign of further endorsement and support expressed towards the Hub.

Located at Lorong J Telok Kurau, the Hub occupies almost a hectare of land with a 999-year leasehold. The projected construction budget will be about $45-53 million. We are now racing towards the ground-breaking and construction ceremony in 2015. This project is targeted to complete in 2017.

We have more good news below that will propel the project into high gear:

1. Confirmation of 3 anchor tenants (The Peoples Presbyterian Church, Hope Presbyterian Church, and True Grace Presbyterian Church), and another para-church's (YWAM) long term lease. Together, their commitment would cover over 80% of the project's construction cost.

2. Preparations are underway for 3 fund-raising events, namely the Competitive/Fun and Family Run/Walk in 2014, a Musical Concert in 2015, and The Presbyterian Church 135th Anniversary in 2016 to complete the financing.

3. Adjustment and completion of the architectural design and scale of building/construction is pending final permit to be granted imminently by URA.

My beloved yokefellows in the gospel ministry, as we press on to see this iconic Presbyterian Hub being established, I would like to reiterate and impress upon us all that this is OUR Hub. Yes, this is OUR Hub! The Synod Office will be housed there, which will make the Hub the Headquarters of The Presbyterian Church in Singapore. Moreover, it will serve our denomination and churches as a BEACON of light for the Lord, acrostically explained as follows:

    B for Boarding house
    E for Equipping centre
    A for Administrative offices
    C for Community outreach
    O for Overseas missions
    N for Next-generation training ground

OUR Hub will also serve the local and overseas Christian communities. OUR Hub is a clarion call for us and like-minded Christians to unite our hearts to fulfill God's vision and purpose for our present and future generations.

To foster the culture of unity, synergy, identity and ministry through OUR Hub, we hope to mobilise every Presbyterian member (estimated at 18,000) to participate and help raise funds for our first Fund Raising Event - the Competitive/Fun and Family Run/Walk to be held on 8th November 2014 at the East Coast Parkway. Our Health Minister and fellow Presbyterian, Mr Gan Kim Yong, will grace this event as the Guest of Honour.

Donation cards will be given to your church. We encourage each member to take one or more. Each card is designed to raise in excess of $500. With the active participation of all our 18,000 members, I believe we will reach our target of at least $5.4 million. Please join us in offering our Utmost for His Highest by giving generously.

Above all, we covet your prayers in this historical and momentous undertaking for the purpose and glory of our Almighty God!

Rev. Dr Steven Gan
