A Prayer for our Nation
(This is an expanded version of a prayer by Pastor Christopher Chia, at the NCCS 50th Anniversary). We pray to you our Almighty God, our wise creator, generous provider, omniscienct protector and, above all, loving Savior. Please quieten us in our busyness, find us in our lostness, comfort us in our sorrow and humble us in our success to acknowledge Jesus as the Alpha & Omega, as the Lord of history and, as such, the Lord of our own personal stories. Thank you for blessing us so abundantly with a unique peace and unparalleled prosperity in Singapore. May we never take this and every blessing for granted. You exhort us in your Word, the Bible, to pray for all rulers, kings and authorities so that we may lead peaceful, quiet and godly lives that pleases you O God, our Savior, who desires all people to be saved. In that light, as we celebrate our 59th National Day and the 50th Anniversary of the National Council of Churches Singapore (NCCS), we praise and glorify you for the stirling leadership of our Government and the peaceful partnership that we as churches have enjoyed for the common good and continued growth of our nation. Thank you for the presence of Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, as the guest of honor for this NCCS Anniversary and milestone, who has led our nation so steadfastly and ably. And we petition that this partnership might deepen, flourish and mature even more as we love and labor together to navigate our present and future humbly in the very tumultuous times we live in under your steadfast hands. So for every spiritual and earthly blessing, enlighten us by your Word and enable us by your grace to rejoice always, pray continually and make us truly thankful - for this is your will in Christ Jesus. Please bless us to be a Blessing to the nation for your glory. Amen.
